Position Overview

The primary purpose of this role is to deliver exceptional customer service, actively promote and sell bakery products, and maintain a clean, attractive product display. The successful candidates will play a vital role in ensuring customer satisfaction and retention by managing transactions efficiently and supporting stock management processes.

Key Responsibilities for Bakery Sales Assistant  Jobs in Lusaka

  • Greet and assist customers warmly and professionally to create a welcoming atmosphere.
  • Promote and sell bakery products, focusing on bread and other baked goods.
  • Accurately receive, pack, and issue customer orders.
  • Operate the cash register and handle various payment methods including cash, mobile money, and card payments.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards while ensuring bakery products are attractively displayed.
  • Monitor stock levels and promptly report any low stock items to management.
  • Address customer complaints and feedback with professionalism and courtesy.
  • Adhere to personal hygiene and food safety standards at all times.
  • Reconcile daily sales and assist in preparing sales reports.
  • Support the receiving and organization of bakery stock from the production team.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of Grade 12 Certificate; a Certificate or Diploma in Sales, Marketing, or related fields is an advantage.
  • At least two years of retail sales experience, preferably within a bakery or food retail environment.
  • Basic knowledge of food handling and hygiene practices.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Good numerical ability for handling transactions and sales reconciliation.
  • Honest, trustworthy, and presentable professional demeanor.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and with minimal supervision.
  • Team-oriented with a positive and flexible attitude.
  • Willingness to work early mornings, weekends, and public holidays as required.
